Kumpir is street food, originally from Turkey. In Turkey, this baked and stuffed potato is as common as grabbing a portion of fries from the local snack bar in the Netherlands.
The potato is baked in the oven, sliced open, and the fluffy inside is mixed with a bit of butter and sometimes cheese. It’s then topped with a flavorful mix of ingredients such as corn, peas, chopped pickles, olives, or slices of sausage.
These days, you’ll also find plenty of other variations: smoked salmon, crème fraîche, or beetroot salad. Basically, anything goes!

GRILLERS: THE POTATO FOR KUMPIR
Grillers from Jac van den Oord are grilling potatoes (also known as baking potatoes or jacket potatoes), ideal for making Kumpir. The potatoes are delivered in 15kg boxes.
WHY BOXES?
15kg boxes are practical:
- Boxes keep the potatoes in the dark, helping to prevent them from turning green and extending their shelf life.
- The cardboard also absorbs excess moisture, reducing the risk of spoilage.
- The boxes are designed to fit efficiently: 8 per Euro pallet layer and 10 per block pallet layer – ensuring optimal pallet loading.
- The boxes are strong: they can be stacked up to 7 layers high, or you can place other products on top of half pallets.
WHAT SIZE CATEGORIES ARE AVAILABLE?
The potatoes are available in various weight categories – the right potato for every type of dish. For Kumpir, the two largest sizes are most commonly used: XL (325–425g each) or XXL (425g and above).
However, several other sizes are available:
- Size S: approx. 70 pcs/box,
- per potato: 180–210g
- Size M: approx. 60 pcs / box,
per potato: 210-275g - Size L: approx. 50 pcs / box,
per potato: 275-325g - Size XL: approx. 40 pcs / box,
per potato: 325-425g - Size XXL: approx. 30 pcs / box,
per potato: 425g +
WHAT ARE THE DELIVERY OPTIONS?
Delivery can be done in various ways:
- Pickup in Ammerzoden:
Many customers from the region collect the potatoes directly from our location in Ammerzoden. - Delivery with own transport:
Jac van den Oord Potatoes has its own trucks and a delivery van. With these, we transport our products to many locations across the Netherlands. We are present daily at most wholesale and auction locations in the country. - Delivery with external carriers:
We also work daily with a number of regular transport partners, which allows us to reach even more locations!
